| WHAT’S INVOLVED - WHAT'S MY NEXT STEP?
When you contact us about fitting solar electric panels on your roof, we will visit your home to check your roof is suitable. If your roof is not suitable – because of design, orientation or shading – we will tell you straight away.
If your roof is suitable, we will discuss with you the best size of installation for you and your budget. We will give you an indication of costs, the amount of electricity you could produce and how much money you could make.
When we have answered your questions and dealt with any concerns you might have, we will conduct a detailed survey to establish the exact size, position and layout of the installation, and give you a written quotation.
Planning permission is not generally needed but you will need to check that there are no issues covering your home – we can advise on this. A deposit of 25% is payable on signing the contract.
We will agree a suitable date for installation, which will take one to two days and involves putting up scaffolding. We will need access to your loft and to your electricity fuse board. We will install a generation meter which will tell you how much electricity your panels are generating.
When installation is complete, we will demonstrate how the system works and hand over manuals and guarantee documents. The balance is payable on completion.
We will tell the electricity grid operator that your home is now generating its own power. But it is your responsibility to tell your supplier that you now want the Feed In Tariff - we can advise on how to do this.
